When I left for work this morning police officers from Thatcher, EAC, Safford and Game & Fish had the block just south of us surrounded. I drove over and asked Michael Curtis what was going on and he said that they had a bear hold up on the overgrowth behind Herb Winsor's house (across from Brent Quinn). Evidently the bear had been roaming the neighborhood all night (calls came into dispatch at GCSO). I went to work and returned about an hour later to see how they were doing. They had just shot the bear with a dart gun and knocked him out. They were loading him into a Game & Fish trailer to be taken back onto the mountain. Never a dull moment here in Thatcher.
